Writing Extensions
- Verbally tell stories together.
- Have your child take notes for you on sticky notes to remind you of things in the morning.
- Have your child make out the shopping list.
- Have your child practice their cursive letter formation. We practice D'Neallion cursive.
- Have your child write sequels to books you have read together.
- Have your child tell or write a story with given perimeters such as: a certain character (a 9 year old boy/girl), a certain setting (outer space in a rocket), a certain problem (your out of peanut butter). Don't make it super easy, but make sure that they stay on topic with the perimeters you gave them.
- Read a short story to them without them seeing the pictures have them draw pictures using the words the author gave them to illustrate the book. Point out main details in the story that would help them in developing a picture for that page or the book.
